Genesis 5

Longevity of life-- one theory that is because humans were to live without death in Eden, so when the consequence of banishment meant moral lives,  generations nearer to Adam still lived quit long; a sort of residual effect of Adam’s immortality.  At any rate they are lifted up as something more than cavemen but rather the sages of old!
Certainly, their long life is a challenge to modernity’s view of progress. If in the beginning stages of humanity humans lived this long, these early ancestors have something to teach us.
